GAIABELA is a French brand of UV-protective swimwear for the whole family , based in Haute-Savoie, in Thonon-les-Bains .
Driven by a genuine passion for entrepreneurship , the founder conceived GAIABELA based on a powerful personal experience. The idea was born when her first child suffered from severe atopic eczema . Faced with the impossibility of using conventional sunscreens, often poorly tolerated by her skin, she sought an effective textile alternative to provide natural sun protection without compromising on comfort.

Since its creation, the brand has designed UV-protective swimwear certified UPF 50+ , the maximum level of sun protection , and certified Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 , guaranteeing fabrics free from harmful substances, respectful of even the most sensitive skin.
The Gaiabela collections offer one-piece and two-piece UV-protective swimsuits for women, swim shorts for men , as well as children's swimsuits designed to make dressing easier at all ages.
Each model is designed to combine sun protection , comfort and elegance , with exclusive patterns and bright colors for a style that is chic, timeless and functional .
Formerly known as Drôles de Marmots , the brand was initially dedicated to babies aged 6 to 36 months . In five years, the collections have expanded and the brand has become a benchmark for matchy-matchy UV-protective swimwear , offering matching models adapted to the body shapes of the whole family: women, men, children and babies .
In 2026 , the brand adopted the name GAIABELA , in line with its evolution and new identity: a premium, sunny and inclusive brand, designed to accompany every family during their moments in the sun, with complete peace of mind.

Our commitments
From the very beginning of Drôles de Marmots , now GAIABELA , it has become essential to design eco-responsible UV-protective swimwear , capable of effectively protecting from the sun while reducing the environmental impact of its manufacture.
The brand is committed, through the choice of quality materials , local European production , committed partners and the use of recycled fabrics , to offer sustainable swimwear for the whole family .
Recycled materials
All the plain fabrics used for our UV-protective swimwear are made from recycled materials , including ECONYL® yarn, a 100% regenerated nylon derived from waste such as fishing nets . These materials are collected, recycled, and transformed into high-quality technical clothing , contributing to the reduction of plastic waste in the marine environment.
European production
Our UV-protective swimwear is manufactured by specialized swimwear and lingerie workshops located in northern Italy , as are the printer and the manufacturer of the plain fabrics. This European production , less than 400 km from our headquarters , helps to limit our carbon footprint and guarantee a high level of quality and traceability.
Sustainable packaging
As part of a comprehensive approach to responsible fashion , all our packaging is designed using recyclable and biodegradable materials , in order to reduce environmental impact down to the smallest detail.
